People I Will Never See
At night, when the sky is Clear
And I’m far from the city Lights
I gaze upon the Stars.
Sometimes, I imagine those stars have Planets
and I imagine some of those planets have People —
People I will never See.
Earth beckons soon enough and I Return–
Return from my lofty, flighty thoughts.
Still, I feel small, alone and adrift in this vast Mystery.
But then I imagine real People,
Those real people I will never see —
Our Descendants and all Future Generations.
And I think to Myself
What can I do for them, Today —
These real people I will never see?
Suddenly, I no longer feel so Small.
I have found my place in the Cosmos
For I’m bound to people I will never See.
